Commercial implementation of Segment Routing on IPv6 (SRv6) in Southeast Asia.
Indonesia telecommunications company Indosat Ooredoo has launched one of the first commercial implementation of Segment Routing on IPv6 (SRv6) in Southeast Asia to support the development of 5G services across the country.
Partnering with Cisco, Indosat Ooredoo transforms its Transport infrastructure into a programable 5G transport network powered by IPv6 segment routing (SRv6) technology with Network Slicing , which enables a simpler, scalable, agile and reliable 5G network to meet the needs of retail customers and business segments.
Together with the expansion of Indosat Ooredoo’s extensive fiber optic network development, will support the growing demand for cellular data consumption with the emergence of new technologies such as Cloud Computing and Network Slicing.
The SRv6’s intelligent routing function which enables deterministic routing paths will ensure high – quality, low-latency on-demand services with the faster and fully automated data connectivity required to serve the digital community across Indonesia. In addition, network slicing allows Indosat Ooredoo to create new digital services for each customer by activating functions that meet their needs.
Indosat Ooredoo, in partnership with Cisco, will accommodate the new 5G usage requirements of many business and industry segments, including fixed and mobile broadband services, through a fully automated SRv6 infrastructure, and seamlessly migrate existing networks to next – generation software-defined networks to enhance customers’ digital experience with optimal TCO as one of the key elements of its network automation and digital transformation strategy.
